It’s time to call back up.
There are few feelings as uncomfortable as being blocked, feeling that there is a bowling ball on your belly, making several hopeful trips to the bathroom just to go out empty.
Luckily, you don’t necessarily need medication to get relief from constipation, only some of these pantry staples will do the trick.
The investigations presented recently at the Conference of Digestive Disease Week suggests that Grandma really knew it better: plums, raisins and dry apricots will allow your people to go.
The study placed 150 participants with chronic constipation in one of the three groups: one consuming three ounces of dry fruits daily, one who drank the juice of these fruits and one that took a placebo of sugar water for a month.
As they commit to science, researchers took rigorous notes on any poop change at the end of each seven -day dump.
While the juice helped, the most marked improvements in intestinal movements and mood – came from the group of fruits.
The weight of the stool, which is a good marker of how everything works down there, jumped by 21 grams a day in the group of dry fruits, compared to a cordial 1.6 grams with the Latebo cohort.
And the lucky ducks of the groups that consumed the fruit in both their dry and juice, had 1.3 times more than so many pauses of spontaneous bathroom a week than the suction cups attached to the placebo.
“People who ate dry fruits had more complete intestinal movements than those who took placebo and the weight of their feces increased significantly,” increased Dr. Simon Steenson, postdoctoral research partner.
At the King’s College London Nutritional Science Department, he told MedicalResarch.com.
“They also reported a higher level of treatment satisfaction, without significant side effects.”
Steenson said that although “chronic constipation is something that can be embarrassing … it affects one in ten people worldwide”, which is nothing for their disposal.
He also said that 80% of the North -American population does not meet the guidelines for nuts, which are the three ounces used in the study or half a cup.
The magic of raisins, dried apricots and plums lies in their high fiber content – which helps digestion – and sorbitol, which attracts water into the intestines, making it easier to stools and easier to pass.
Just ensure -you should not be too much, otherwise it can literally occur.
And if you care about the sugar content of these fruits, Steenson believes that there are larger pains.
“It is true that nuts contain a lot of sugar, but this is inside the fruit cells and, therefore, it takes time for our bodies to break and release this sugar,” he said at the exit.
“Therefore, it is less worrying than sugar to soft drinks and is unlikely to be a problem for our calorie intake or blood glucose.”
It is worth noting that this study has not yet been reviewed by equals and has been funded by the International Nut and Sried Fruit Council (INC).
However, it is also the largest clinical trial so far to see if these foods could alleviate constipation and, however, evidence speaks in itself.
Finally, in addition to returning to freedom in your bowels, you can keep raisins, plums and dry apricots in the pantry for quite some time, because they will overcome you and everything you like.
